Key developments related to PFAS

You, like many others, are probably concerned about the PFAS issue that has been emerging in Belgium and other European countries in recent months. We would like to inform you of recent developments and recommendations regarding PFAS.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) recently issued a proposal to restrict the production, sale and use of PFAS in the EU, with some exceptions for specific uses.

This also affects fluoropolymers, such as PTFE, which are thus covered by the restriction, although they differ significantly from other PFAS substances in terms of safety.

It is important to note that fluoropolymers, because of their composition, are considered safe for humans and the environment. They are non-toxic, do not accumulate in the body and cannot contaminate water. That is why they are approved for use in food contact and medical applications according to strict regulations and well-defined use guidelines.

At Erbivo, we want to emphasize that our products containing fluoropolymers are completely safe for use. We use the most advanced environmentally friendly formulation technologies and comply with strict food contact and medical device regulations. You can be confident that our products meet the highest safety standards.

There is currently a public consultation period during which all stakeholders, including the general public, can express their views on the ECHA proposal. It is essential that everyone involved in this issue participate in the consultation and make their voices heard. Together we can strive for balanced measures that both protect the environment and preserve essential uses on which many depend.

As a company, we are committed to developing safe and sustainable solutions for our customers. We work closely with experts and stakeholders to ensure that the specific applications of PTFE are recognized and protected.

We encourage you to stay informed about these developments and make your voice heard during the consultation. Together we can contribute to a responsible and balanced policy on PFAS.
